Planning for 2020

Planning for 2020

Not long now until the clock strikes midnight and 2019 turns into 2020. Have you commenced planning for Jan and Feb yet? We know a lot of Employment Service Providers who already have, and we are quickly booking out our ACE Community College and Jesuit com unity College three and six-week Accredited Bounce Programs. The benefits of running a Bounce Program in January include:

  • Getting your clients motivated for a fresh start in the New Year
  • Hitting the reset button ourselves and looking at what services we can utilise as a Provider
  • Getting ahead of the pack with an activity for your clients in January, rather than waiting for Feb and losing a month

Give our National Business Manager, Matt Luttrell, a call on 0409 244 599 or email him via matthew@bounceaustralia.com and give him a date you would like to commence a Bounce Program!

Bounce Awards Night

Trainer of the Month isn’t the only way we show appreciation to our amazing Bounce family. Friday the 15th of November saw Bounce hold its very first Annual Bounce Awards! A night for Bounce staff, trainers and partners, to come together and celebrate the hard work and dedication of everyone in the world of Bounce.

This night is something that we have wanted to do for so long, and finally it came to be a reality. Being able to say thank you to everyone the way we’ve always wanted to was an exhilarating experience for everyone involved.

And what awards night would be complete without the actual awards!? Five trophies were handed out in total and were accepted to the overwhelming roar of applause, whistles, and yes, a few tears!

So, without further ado, the Bounce award winners for 2019 are… *drumroll please*

The Way Finder of the Year Award: Linda Pierson

For flexibility to their training, and outstanding employment outcomes and completion rates.

Potential Lives Here Award: Amanda Simpson

For continual improvement to completion rates, improvement in quality of training, positive attitude to learning, and honing their craft.

Bounceketeer of the Year: Chris Young

For upholding and representing Bounce’s values to the highest standard.

The Seriously Clever Award: Prue Howard

For thinking outside of the box, flexible and intuitive training, application of all skills for the support of others, and adaptability.

The Dog Ate my Homework Award: Stephen Tuxford

For his continuous struggle with returning feedback, disclaimers and confidentiality agreement forms, but creating a system so he’s never late with paperwork again.

Laughter, reminiscing and a few cheeky glasses of champagne saw the evening out, with everyone heading home smiling from ear to ear. Thank you so much to everyone involved, we can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Silly season got you stressed?

The Way Finders website is getting some seriously clever content lately, and it’s all focused on self-care for people working in employment services! There are new blogs, podcasts and downloads to be had, including this fantastic blog all about stress! It even comes with a super quick stress assessment quiz to help you better understand your stress levels!

Trainer of the Month

It’s our last Trainer of the Month for the year! We’ve done, seen and experienced more than ever before, and with such an exceptional year comes an equally exceptional trainer! Having been with Bounce for over nine years, he is basically part of the furniture! If you haven’t guessed it already, November’s trainer of the month is none other than Mr Phil Pollard!

Phil is a man like no other. He can (and will) walk into any building with his hand outstretched, a smile on his face, and impart wisdom onto anyone that will listen. For Phil, helping people isn’t a job, it’s a lifestyle – and boy, does it show!

Phil has worked alongside Bounce delivering accredited programs, non-accredited programs, and programs in the furthest reaches of the country to offshore indigenous communities. You name it, and most likely, Phil’s done it – changing lives as he goes.

We asked Phil what the highlights are for him when it comes to training:

“My highlight is receiving calls, well after the programs are over, from participants who want to share their amazing experiences from their participation. It really doesn’t matter who gets into my groups because none of them can escape being coached into their greatness and having a positive impact in their lives.”

Here we are Phil, nine years later and we can’t thank you enough for your dedication and loyalty to changing peoples lives! Keep being amazing (we know you will anyway!).

Self-Care Tip of the Month

“My work inspires me, but when I get overworked, I make sure I engage in positive conversations with my team that make me feel good. It gives me energy. This month try to figure out what gives you energy and makes you feel good, then jump on in and do it!”

Action takers, how to go bold and be brilliant

Action takers, how to go bold and be brilliant

We live in a time where employees are no longer numbers on a clipboard, they’re needed and appreciated, and having employees that are happy, productive and excel in their work is more vital than ever before. A massive piece of this is corporate culture, and some of the largest and most successful companies have turned this into a fine art.

For example, Netflix evaluates their employees by their abilities and accomplishments rather than the number of hours worked, creating a culture of self-starters and accountability. DreamWorks holds events and parties that encourage employees to showcase their personal work and projects to boost confidence and appreciation. Companies like Adobe, Google, Facebook, and Amazon build their incredible work cultures by investing in their employee’s professional development.

You may not be able to hold large parties or have the luxury of changing the entire business model, but you can give your team the skills they need to go from good to great. Maybe upskilling your team hasn’t crossed your mind yet and that’s okay, but remember a business or company name alone is not what makes it successful, it’s the people behind the scenes that work hard every day, yourself included, that make it happen. This is where innovation begins, and success stems from. This is how you go bold and be brilliant – together!

Managing Change with NDIA

Last month Maria was honoured to be invited to speak at the National Disability Insurance Agency conference, delivering a presentation on change, resilience and managing stressful situations to around 70 people.

Held in Geelong, this national event hosted employees from all over the country in various roles within the NDIA, from the GM to admin personnel.

Maria delivered tangible, practical tools for staff to manage themselves as individuals, as well as others within a team – and she had a blast (as you can see from the pic!).

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone at NDIA for giving us the opportunity to support such an incredible team of people.

Trainer of the Month

It’s that time once again for us to tell you about another of our incredible and inspiring trainers! June’s trainer of the month is none other than the beautiful Lisa Miki!

Lisa has lived in Mildura for most of her life and worked in the security industry for over 15 years, gradually her attention moved to training and that’s where our story begins! Starting at Bounce in February 2018, Lisa is an amazing source of inspiration for her participants. Her fun and cheeky attitude gets students up and moving, giving them a proactive outlook to building their best life.

As well as being an extremely committed and engaging trainer, Lisa is the mother of two wonderful kids and is an avid Melbourne Storm supporter. Lisa lives by the rule “Conduct yourself in such a way that when someone speaks bad of you, no one believes them.” And it shows!

Thank you so much Lisa for your true dedication to not only being a Bounce trainer but also a wonderful human being! Your passion for your work is an inspiration to people every single day!

Tip of the Month

“You can learn a lot about someone and how they see the world by just sitting back and listening. Take note of the words they use, their facial expressions and body language. Listen without judgement or bias and you will gain a new level of social awareness.”

Waiting – The Adversary of Success

Waiting – The Adversary of Success

Waiting – The Adversary of Success

I could tell you that success is something that you’re born with or is something that lands on you once you hit a certain age but, unfortunately, that isn’t true. Success is a series of little actions taken by you to get one step closer to what you want to achieve.

The thing is, these little actions are where we get all confused, and I don’t think there is a person on earth that hasn’t made this mistake, myself included.

Have you ever had a BHAG© – a Big Hairy Audacious Goal? Something so huge and amazing and thrilling that you got super excited about? You’ve got the goal in mind, and you’re pumped… then you wait. You don’t have the time right now. You don’t have the support right now. You don’t have the energy right now, but you’ll get on that really soon…

This is the trap. We’re so busy staring into the future looking at that big shiny goal that we’re ignoring the right now. Each day we do this, is a step not taken and a goal not achieved. There is a solution. Stop waiting. There is no perfect time, no perfect situation, there’s only you and the path to where you want to be. Nike had it right “Just do it”. Do something, do anything, make that call, google that thing, go to that training, it’s up to you.

You can’t do everything all at once but no matter what your goal is, know that you can do it, you just need to take the first step.

Trainer of the Month

The month of May celebrates many things, Star Wars, Youth Week, and most importantly Mother’s Day. What better way to celebrate the wonderful women in our lives than by saying a big thank you to an excellent Mother, Grand Mother and Bounce Trainer of almost two years, Kristine Zimmer.

From a young age, Kristine knew she wanted to lead a life of helping people – it’s like she was born to be a Bounce Trainer. She studied and practised nursing for many years, delivered First Aid, health and community programs, and taught swimming for more than 26 years, with her eldest daughter representing the Australian Swim Team (wow!).

Kristine has two kind and courageous sons and four beautiful shining daughters, who have given her and her husband of 42 years three adorable grandsons and says “Together they fill my heart with pride and it overflows daily with so much love for them, it is such a privilege to be their mother.”

The care and love she shows her friends and family flows straight into her programs and into the hearts of her participants. Thank you, Kristine, your life long passion for helping people from every walk of life is inspiring, and it is a privilege to have you be a part of our Bounce family.

Tip of the Month

“Try to view your biggest challenges as your greatest opportunities. By understanding what isn’t working, we are inadvertently being shown what does work – it’s all about perspective! ”

So where can we see this science-based information? The website Re:Work of course! To quote the website itself, Re:Work “is a curated platform of practices, research, and ideas from Google and others; it’s designed to help you use data and science to make work better, no matter where you call work.” And its pretty cool!

To get you started we’ve found an awesome guide that will take you through information and actual tools you can use to build a more innovative workplace. Check it out here:

AXIS Employment and EQ

April kicked off with Maria presenting at the AXIS Employment Conference, delving into the world of Emotional Intelligence and how it functions within the workplace. Covering more in-depth topics such as the Model of the World and Dopamine levels, her presentation was a smash hit with the team giving some amazing feedback.

“As usual, you were fantastic, inspiring and very on the mark with what you delivered. I have had some fabulous feedback from many staff saying how much they enjoyed your session and how they have taken such a lot from it. We are all busy filling our cup to ensure our dopamine levels are up.”
Viv Watson – Executive Director of Operations

We want to thank the team at Axis Employment for welcoming Maria once again and for having such a proactive stance on employee development. Another day, another company taking their skills to the next level!

Trainer of the Month

Born in Yugoslavia (now Croatia) and moving to Australia when she was 10, our Trainer of the Month for April is a woman so strong and motivated to contribute to the lives of others that we’re going to struggle to explain her brilliance in just a few paragraphs.

When she first moved to Australia, Blazenka Krasey could not speak English and struggled to find her place, battling with shyness and emotional stress. Jump forward a few years and here she is, walking into her training room every day with the confidence and charisma that would put even the best motivational speakers to shame.

Outside of the training room, Blazenka makes sure she gives herself time to discover the world. So far she has traveled to New Zealand, Bali, US, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada and is now planning to go to India – wow!

She values spirituality, health, growth and contribution which shines through in her incredible delivery style. Thank you Blazenka, for being a guiding light every single day!

Tip of the Month

“Don’t spend your life looking backwards only to fall over hurdles that were right in front of you. Growth means learning from the past and looking forward, towards a better brighter future.”

Stepping Back in Time for Charity

The team at Bounce are never ones to shy away from a great night out to support a great cause. So the annual Feast on the Fairway was the place to be last week in Maryborough.

The night boasted a roaring 1920’s theme, complete with the Maryborough Big Band busting out the biggest hits of the ’20s and a projector showing classic movies in the background – All in support of cancer research!

The biggest hit for the night, besides the amazing swing dance lessons and incredible three-course meal provided by local eateries, was the huge announcement by Maryborough District Health Service that from July 1 this year, MDHS, in partnership with Ballarat Health Service, will be commence providing a public Oncology service locally.

This is big news for everyone in Maryborough, as locals previously would have to travel an hour to Ballarat to receive regular treatment.

This annual event is such a welcome addition to the community, and we cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone looking to network, support a good cause and enjoy a great night out. Well done, once again, to everyone involved!

Described as a “ball of passion”, our Trainer of the Month for March 2019 is none other than the beautiful Pina Cerminara!

Pina has been with Bounce for over two years and is a true influencer. She specialises in creating real and immediate change in her participants and with each positive outcome created, she gains more and more momentum. There’s no stopping this juggernaut of absolute passion.

“I spent most of my life hiding in the back of school classrooms and board room meetings, I now spend most of my working day being seen in front of groups of people. I have come from the back of the room to the front, where I get to teach people life and work skills as well as inspiring them to find their true potential.” – Pina.

Thank you, Pina, for being a true guiding light for those who need it most. You’ve done such incredible things over the last two years with Bounce, and we can’t wait to see what the next two years bring!
