Do you play to your strengths?

Do you play to your strengths?

Can you think of a time when you’ve had a task to complete that was really hard work? You might have felt tired, frustrated and lacked the motivation to get it done. Chances are, this task didn’t play to your strengths.

Strengths are much more than the things you are good at or capable of doing. Strengths give you energy because they’re the things that you do well, you enjoy doing, and you do often. But not everyone knows exactly what their strengths are and how they influence the way we perform.

Research shows that when we are aware of and develop our strengths, we feel more energised, learn faster, perform better and strive to do our best.

If you want to feel motivated and enjoy the tasks you perform, understanding your strengths, weaknesses and your learned behaviours is the fastest and most effective way to boost your potential and your performance.

WHAT IS THE STRENGTHS PROFILE?
Strengths profiling was launched in 2009 as a world-leading tool developed by cappfinity that changes the way we assess, develop and leverage talent in people.

The Strengths Profile tool is unique and distinct from traditional one-dimensional strengths tests, assessing 60 strengths across three dimensions of energy, performance and use.

Here at Bounce, we have our very own certified Strengths Practitioner, who can help you with your strengths discovering journey. The Strengths Profile includes a 30-minute online assessment, and a 1-hour debrief with Bec, our strength expert who will help you interpret and understand your strengths profile and give you strategies to help you perform at your best.

If you’d like to start using your strengths to boost your performance, energy levels and productivity check out the Strengths Profile Page on our website for more information or contact us via info@bounceaustralia.com with the subject line “Show me my strengths!”

Changing lives in New Zealand

This is a MUST WATCH! We’re so inspired by this incredible story that has come out of Hawkes Bay in New Zealand where the Bounce Program is delivered through LIFT Social Enterprises.

Tyler was lost and very uncertain about her future before a chance meeting with the LIFT Team at a shopping centre completely changed her life. Now she’s a Bounce Trainer, and she’s helping others just like her, find their way. How incredible! We can’t wait to see where LIFT takes our program next.

Horsing Around

Last month, the Bounce Team visited Three Bridges Horse Stud at Eddington to work with Jess Liston from Inner Rhythm and her horses Jack, Jorge and Sweety for an afternoon of leadership exploration and team-building.

Inner Rhythm provides teams and individuals with the opportunity to explore their leadership styles through equine-assisted therapy. Jess’s herd of highly intuitive horses are used to strengthen human relationships through their ability to mirror our energy, leadership, and emotions. Horses quickly and clearly show you how you operate in your daily life.

As a team, we were able to make connections with our feelings and energy levels and see first-hand how they present themselves when the horses responded (or didn’t!) to our different leadership styles. Thanks, Jess, for a really fun and eye-opening afternoon!

Trainer of the Month

This month we want to showcase a very special trainer who has just ticked off one whole year of delivering Bounce Programs in Queensland with our awesome partners ACE Community Colleges.

With a heart of gold and over 50 participants singing her praises, Sharon Hardy is a shining star. So, it’s no surprise that we’ve chosen her to be our Trainer of the month for March.

But Bounce isn’t the only journey Sharon has been on in her lifetime, for 12 whole years Sharon owned and operated a successful dance and performing arts school in Sydney. Many of her past students are currently dancing in Companies both in Australia and around the world, and some have even begun their own dance schools. Not surprisingly, a lot of Sharon’s past students keep in touch, and she is able to follow the next generation through their dance journey.

“Sharon has been an amazing trainer, and I’m so glad to have met her and learnt from her. She has opened my eyes to so many things, and my life will be better for having known her.”
Emma-Jane, 2019

Keep being amazing, Sharon! We love watching you dance through your Bounce journey, inspiring participants as you go!

Coaching for A Human Future

Coaching for A Human Future

There’s nothing like getting straight back into training, and Maria along with Teri Britschgi, our Vice President of Operations for Bounce USA, has been in South Australia delivering some exciting new coaching content as part of a trial program we’re running with MADEC Australia. Over six days, Maria and Teri worked with 18 enthusiastic Employment Consultants from MADEC’s site in Christies Beach to build their coaching skills and give them more confidence when working with their clients. Judging by the feedback, the training was a hit!

“I really enjoyed the whole three days. You have challenged and helped me to see the best in myself and who I can be.” – Deb H

“Maria is an amazing facilitator. I am so ready for this next step. Thank you so much for your superior suggestions!” – Tracy

“I found the training fantastic, not only for my work but for my personal life as well. I would recommend all MADEC employees get involved.” – Nigel

We’ve discovered a new way to work with Employment Consultants, or Job Coaches as we like to call them and the future looks incredibly exciting. For these brand-new Job Coaches, working with their clients will now involve using the very best coaching techniques and tools to help boost engagement and support them into employment or further training faster and more effectively than ever before. If you’d like to find out more, send an email to info@bounceaustralia.com with the subject line “Tell Me More!”

Emotionally Intelligent Workplaces

Did you know that one of the most downloaded documents from The Way Finders Network is our Emotional Intelligence Poster?

Emotional intelligence (EI) is the capacity to understand and manage your emotions. Mastering the skills involved with EI including self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy and motivation is incredibly important for anyone working with people and especially for those working in employment services.

The poster is a simple and highly effective tool when it comes to keeping EI front of mind in your workplace. We’ve had lots of Job Coaches tell us that they’ve printed the poster and sat it at their desk as a great reminder to practise EI daily.

A Minute with Maria

“I love this TedTalk – it focuses on self-awareness and the simple things you can do to bring a greater level of awareness by just asking one simple but powerful question. As coaches, it’s so important that we show up to every session with our clients as the best version ourselves, so that we can give them all the help they need.”

We’re coming for you 2020!

We’re coming for you 2020!

A new year, a new decade and infinite possibilities! Don’t Give Up on Your Dreams

Not only is it the start of a new year, but it’s also a new decade which means you have an opportunity to shape your future however you choose.

Why do we make resolutions for a new year? External motivators, like the start of a new year or even a birthday, can provide the opportunity for you to reflect on your past experiences and decide whether or not you’re up for a change. But sticking to your goals, now that’s a whole other challenge! In fact, on average most people have ditched their new year’s resolutions by the start of February.

But there is hope! Here are our top 5 tips to help you stay focused on achieving your goals. Give them a go today!

A Minute With Maria

A new addition to our newsletter for 2020 – Spend a minute with Maria and learn more about what interests, motivates and inspires her. Each month she’ll share with you a story, a piece of research or something purely indulgent that she is excited by.

“Three weeks at the beach gives you plenty of time to read, learn and be inspired! While researching new content for our training programs, I found this interesting piece on ‘blind-spots’. Watch this short video and make sure you don’t have any distractions around you so you can concentrate.”

“Blind spots highlight how we can get so focused on something and completely miss other things around us. As a Job Coach, you might want to consider when working with clients how often you can get so focused on a certain path for clients, that you forget what they want and miss some important information in their communication. Keep an eye out for ‘blind spots’ when you meet with your next client.”

– Maria Smith
